Kicking us off, HBO Max gives us the gift of Martin McDonaugh’s highly acclaimed film The Banshees of Inisherin, starring Colin Farrell, Brendan Gleeson, and Kerry Condon. Did someone wish for an adrenaline-pumping film? HBO Max will also launch the Dwayne Johnson-led action-packed superhero movie Black Adam! To top off the holidays, there are plenty of TV shows to enjoy in December, such as the second season of the Joshua Safran-created Gossip Girl reboot and the series adaptation of Philip Pullman’s fantasy trilogy His Dark Materials.

• Doom Patrol – Doom Patrol reimagines one of DC’s most beloved groups of Super Heroes, all of whom suffered a horrible accident that gave them superhuman abilities, but also left them scarred and disfigured. Part support group, part Super Hero team, the Doom Patrol is a band of superpowered freaks who fight for a world that wants nothing to do with them.
• His Dark Materials – The final season of the epic HBO Original Series. A young girl is destined to liberate her world from the grip of the Magisterium which represses people’s ties to magic and their animal spirits known as daemons.
• Gossip Girl – Eight years after the original website went dark, a new generation of New York private school teens are introduced to the social surveillance of Gossip Girl. The prestige series will address just how much social media — and the landscape of New York itself — has changed in the intervening years.
• South Side — A pair of recent community college graduates look to become entrepreneurs in Chicago’s South Side.
• I Hate Suzie — A female celebrity has her whole life upended when her phone is hacked and a photo of her in an extremely compromising position emerges.
• Random Acts of Flyness — Late-night series from artist Terence Nance featuring a mix of vérité documentary, musical performances, surrealist melodrama and humorous animation as a stream-of-consciousness response to the contemporary American mediascape.
• Branson — A four-part series on the adventures and antics of billionaire businessman Richard Branson where he reveals the ups and downs of a man driven by risk taking in both his business and personal life, reflecting on the costs and rewards of his lifelong, relentless optimism and boundary-pushing.
• Sex Diaries — Verité documentary series based on New York Magazine’s column about sex and dating today. Each episode is structured as a diary – timestamped and chronological and would weaves two subjects’ stories, outlining a week in the life, in real- time, of everyday New Yorkers as they navigate their sex and love lives.
• Sort Of — Follows a gender-fluid millennial who straddles various identities, exposing the identities and labels that are no longer applicable.
